CS1D menambahkan berbagai opsi dual-redundancy pada arsitektur CS1 yang telah terbukti andal, untuk memastikan operasi 24 jam tanpa henti dengan downtime yang sangat minimal. Duplex CPU, dengan atau tanpa fungsi loop control, secara terus-menerus saling memeriksa kesalahan tanpa memerlukan program khusus dari pengguna. Ketersediaan sistem juga dapat ditingkatkan dengan menggunakan dual power supply. Selain itu, hot swapping pada CPU, power supply, dan unit I/O memungkinkan proses pemeliharaan dilakukan dengan sedikit atau tanpa gangguan pada proses produksi.
